Ann Curry
Ann Curry, an American journalist and photojournalist who has reported on natural and war-related disasters for more than 45 years. She focuses on the suffering of those living in these regions. Curry covered wars in Kosovo, Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry (born on November 19th, 1956 in the city of Agana) is an American TV anchor, reporter and journalist. Her most renowned work was for being a correspondent of The Today Show, a morning newscast produced by the National Broadcasting Co. Curry was noted especially for her reporting on human rights issues in war-stricken countries and on natural disasters. Curry's Japanese-American mother as well as her U.S. navy-marine father were both prominent figures within Curry's personal life. Curry's parents were married in Japan which is in which her father was stationed since World War II. Her father was a member of the military and her family had to move around a lot. Curry was a student at the high school in Ashland, Oregon. Curry graduated in 1978, with an undergraduate degree in journalism from the University of Oregon. In her youth she had the privilege of being exposed to diverse kinds of cultures. She has a compassionate view of international affairs is probably the result of these experiences. Curry along with her husband frequently moved, so she did not stay in one school more than 2 years. She and her husband travelled to numerous locations such as San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia. Ashland, Oregon is the location where Curry received her degree. While working as an intern for KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregan, she began her journey in the field of broadcasting. She was the first woman journalist for the station when she was 22. Then she was promoted to the position of an anchor and reporter at KGW an NBC affiliate located in Portland, Oregan. After moving to Los Angeles, she became an anchor and reporter for KCBS TV four years after having moved to the city. She was awarded 2 Emmy Awards during the six years she spent with this station.
